Attention Thrivent Members!
We are looking for volunteers to apply for a $250 Action Team Grant from Thrivent financial to help with the costs of our Community Senior Citizen Thanksgiving Meal. These grants are just waiting for you to apply, you are allowed two (2) grants per year for any charity project!
There are a few weekends throughout the school year we would like to find volunteers to serve coffee: next Sunday, October 20, December 1, December 22, December 29, January 19, and February 16. Contact the office to help with one of these weekends!
If you find that Sunday morning worship is difficult for you, try coming for communion and fellowship at our mid-week communion in Grace Hall. The next service is this coming Tuesday (October 15th) at 2:00 pm. This time of Holy Worship includes hymns, prayers, communion and a brief meditation. There are also communion services at Riverside Apartments (next November 7 at 9:30am) and Johnson Memorial Care Center (next November 1 at 10:00am).
Watson Lutheran Annual Meatball Supper
Watson Lutheran Church will be hosting their annual meatball supper today from 4:30-7:00pm. Meal tickets are $10/adult, $5/children (4-10), children under 3 are free, and $1/ticket for the Quilt Raffle. To-go meals are also available, as well as baked goodies, produce, and crafts on sale!
2019 MEA Break
Just a reminder that MEA break is this week, which means a little change in schedule! Wednesday (October 16th) there will be no Release Time or Confirmation Classes; and Sunday (October 20th), No Sunday School and only ONE worship service at 9:00am.
2019 LqP Conference WELCA Fall Gathering
The Women of the Lac qui Parle Conference of the ELCA are hosting their annual fall gathering even on Tuesday (October 15) starting at 8:30 at the Granite Falls Lutheran Church. The program will include speaker Travis Aufderheide, the Executive Director of Green Lake Lutheran Ministries. If you’re interested in going, please contact Bernice Oellien at 320-752-4757.
LqP Conference Global Mission Event
October’s Global Mission Event will be held at Big Bend Lutheran Church on Friday (October 18th). Guest speaker will be Rob Pousch, head of Sukop Company, who delivers and builds safe homes after natural disasters. Morning coffee starts at 9:30, followed by the meeting at 10:00, and a noon lunch.
Bread for the World Sunday
Next Sunday, we join with churches across the country to observe Bread for the World Sunday. Moved by God’s grace in Jesus Christ, we pray for all of those who suffer from hunger and want, and we rededicate ourselves to ending hunger in God’s world.

Rural Mental Health Support Training
Anyone is invited to hear Ted Matthews, Director of MN Rural Health speak on learning how to recognize the signs of mental and emotional distress, and teach what to do for someone who is in a suicidal situation. Learn why it is that the highest suicide rates of any occupation in the country is farming, and how to cope with the stress of living and working in agricultural settings. Join Ted on Wednesday, October 23 from 9am-Noon at the Lac qui Parle County Annex Building in Madison. This training and support is brought to you by the LQP health network: Working Together to Improve Local Access to Healthcare Services.
Just a reminder to our confirmands that Confirmation Service Rehearsal will be Wednesday, October 23 starting at 8pm.
Sunday, October 27 is a big day! Not only is it Reformation Sunday, when we celebrate the reformation that began our religion; but we also get to welcome our confirmands to our congregation at our 10:45 worship service!
LYO Pumpkin Carving
5th & 6th grade students are invited over to Grace Hall after school on October 30 for the annual Pumpkin Carving Party!
Trick or Treat for Food Shelf
All students 5th-12th grade are invited to help collect items to stock the food shelf October 30! After visiting our community members, we will return to Grace Hall for supper. We will start our “trick-or-treating” at 5:00, and hope to be done by 6:30.
9th Grade Confirmation
Also during our Trick-or-Treat for Food Shelf Event (October 30), Pastor Kendall will be meeting with the 9th Graders for their October confirmation class during the meal, approximately 6:15.
Our next 50+ Potluck will be held on October 30 at 5:30 in Grace Hall.
