GRACE LUTHERAN CHURCH Spring Congregational Meeting April 22, 2012 9:45 a.m.
The April Congregational Meeting was called to order at 9:45 a.m. by President Vern Silvernale.
Pastor Kendall led us in devotions.
The minutes of the January 2012 Annual Meeting were reviewed as printed. On motion of Jane Ellefson, seconded by Kathy DeLong these minutes were approved as printed.
The financial report was read by Pastor Kendall. The General Fund balance as of March 31, 2012 was 51.26. The Capital Improvement Fund balance was $651.10. The Memorial Fund checking balance was $7,036.79 with $60.19 in savings and the Cemetery Fund balance was $1,694.61. A motion was made by Bev Skordahl, seconded by Kathy DeLong, this report was approved as printed.
Tammy Wager gave a report for the Christian Education Board. She noted the last day for Kingdom Kids was held this past Wednesday. Also the last day for Sunday school, Senior Recognition and the Agape Service will be on Sunday, May 20, 2012. Vacation Bible School will begin Monday, June 4-7th in the evenings. Hollie Thompson gave a report for the Youth Board. They will be hosting a Mother’s Day Brunch this year on Sunday, May 13th. She also noted the youth will be traveling to New Orleans for their mission trip.
President Vern Silvernale reported to the congregation on the audit performed by Clyde Dessonville and David Pederson. On motion by Merlin Ellefson, seconded by Bev Skordahl, the audit findings were approved by the congregation.
Pastors Reports: Intern Pastor John reported the Lay Ministry Board just completed his six month evaluation and his approval essay is completed. The Kingdom Kids program came to an end this past Wednesday also. Pastor Kendall reported on First Communion for participating 4th graders will be on Sunday, May 6, 2012. The last day of Sunday school, Senior Recognition and the Agape Service will be on Sunday, May 20, 2012. The High School Baccalaureate Vespers Service will be held on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Grace. The Summer Worship schedule will be as follows: Joyous Light Wednesday Evening Vespers Service-June 20 to July 25. The Sunday Outdoor Worship Services-June 24, July 29 and August 26. Pastor Kendall also reported that a generous gift was given to the church memorial fund to pay off the intern house mortgage. The total amount of the gift given was $28,457.84. The payoff amount of the mortgage was $17,000.55. The PPC committee recommended to the Stewardship board to give $2800.00 of this gift to the ELCA Leadership Endowment Fund. This represents 10% of major gifts of the memorial to be given to support ministries beyond Grace Lutheran, according to the policy approved by the board.

New Business: Megan Lynne was introduced and did a presentation on Huntington’s disease. The 2012 Nominating committee was led by Dan Lee. The entire slate of candidates was approved with no additions by Laurel Silvernale and seconded by Dorothy Hudson. Delegates to the Synod Assembly are Woody and Diane Peet, Vern Silvernale and Jane Martinson. On motion by Merlin Ellefson, seconded by Kathy DeLong these delegates were approved. The Stewardship board members are challenging the congregation to pay off the $10,000 boiler loan over the next few weeks/months. On the landing in the narthex there is a container that has envelopes for all to use for this project. The Parochial report was also available for all congregational members to view.
The next Congregational Meeting will be held on Sunday, November 4, 2012.
In closing the congregation read the Congregational prayer together. The meeting was adjourned at 10:30 a.m.
